Canucks Goalie, Luongo, Taking Shots for Endorsing Poker Site

The star goalie for the NHL's Vancouver Canucks is also an avid poker player. Last month he started appearing in television commercials for PlayNow.com, an online poker site operated by the British Columbia Lottery Corporation. As a role model for kids, he's being hotly criticized for becoming a spokesperson of such a "dangerous" activity.  One critic went so far as to say he might as well be encouraging kids to smoke!

What bothers me about the ad is that it suggests that you can actually play against Luongo on the site. That seems possible but not too likely  ;)

This CBC story includes a video clip that shows the "offensive" ad:  http://www.cbc.ca/sports/hockey/nhl/story/2011/10/17/bc-luongo-poker-endorsement-controversy.html

What do you think? Should he have turned down this opportunity?
