Springbok Casino Honours Inspiring Women of South Africa for National Women’s Day

August 9th is National Women’s Day in South Africa commemorating the 20,000 women who marched on the Union Buildings in Pretoria that day in 1956. To honour some of the country's amazing women, South Africa’s Springbok Casino has published a tribute to inspiring female South African athletes, entertainers and activists including Helen Zillie, Brenda Fassie, Caster Smenya, Charlize Theron and Winnie Mandela.

“Through our history, South Africa has produced some exceptional women whose passion and determination have helped make us who we are as a nation,” said Springbok Casino manager Daniel van Wyck. “Some of the women we’ve featured are well known, some deserve to be better known!”

Winnie Mandela, “The Mother of the Nation”, helped people living with HIV and AIDS, and people living in extreme poverty. The Black Mambas are a female ranger unit that protects wildlife in the Balule Nature Reserve and the Greater Kruger National Park. One of the most successful and inspirational women in sport, Caster Semenya is also known for controversy over her unusual testosterone levels. Brenda Nokuzola Fassie, the "Queen of African Pop", sang about life in the townships. Born near Johannesburg, Charlize Theron is a world-famous actress.

Springbok Casino provides customer service in both Afrikaans and English. South Africa’s most popular online casino, it has hundreds of slots and casino games and they’re all played in South African Rands.
