Thunderbolt Casino Donates R50,000 to Isithembiso Babies Home in Gqeberha

 

Thunderbolt Casino has expanded its donation to the Isithembiso Babies Home this year. Its R50,000 gift is part of the South African online casino's annual 67 Minutes philanthropy campaign. This philanthropic campaign seeks to raise awareness for the home and the innumerable ways people can help.

 

"We strive to go by the words of our Tata M and 'make a difference'," said Thunderbolt’s manager, Alisa. "We're so grateful to all of our players for making this contribution possible."

 

Providing a safe place for children under three who have been abandoned, abused or neglected, Isithembiso is an NPO that has the vision to see those babies placed in families that will love them and embrace them as their own. Working hand-in-hand with social services, they endeavor to place each child with a foster or adoptive home or reunite them with their own families. 

Isithembiso is an extremely important facility that refuses to let abandoned or orphaned babies go unprotected.

 

"Since the home has been open, we've helped more than 200 children. That's 200 children whose lives have totally changed. We’ve simply have to do our part," said Carmen Faragher, Co-ordinator at the center.

 

"Helping out here gives me hope for more children," said one volunteer.  "There are so many more children that can be loved."

 

“There is hope in actually changing this nation," said Eugene Marais Isithembiso's Chairman.  "There are close to a million orphaned children right now in this country, and only about 2000 a year get adopted. There's a massive need, especially here in Port Elizabeth. And those that would have been destined to live off the street, now have a chance at education and a future filled with hope”
