The Rules are Wrong and a Flush Should Beat Quads -- Nic Szeremeta Challenges Orthodox Thinking

Nic Szeremeta has always been willing to shake things up in the poker world. In 1999 he created Late Night Poker for Channel 4, the first poker show to use the hole card cam, and helped to kick-start the poker boom in the UK. But now it’s Szeremeta’s mission to point out to all the card rooms and casinos that spread strip-deck poker, live and online, that they’ve been shipping the pots in the wrong direction for years. This is because, in accordance with the immutable laws of mathematics, a flush should beat quads.

The Independent newspaper’s poker columnist sets out his argument in the new issue of Bluff Europe, out Monday 3rd October. “According to the principles upon which hand rankings are based, a flush should beat four-of-a-kind. The reason is that a flush occurs less frequently (can be made in fewer ways) than four-of-a-kind in a 32 card deck.

“This is not advanced maths; it is an easy sum,” says Nic. “As it’s more difficult to make a flush than to make four-of-a-kind (around 10% more difficult), it therefore follows that the holder of a flush against quads should have the pot pushed in his or her direction.”

Nic calls on regulators to change the rules: “Even more money is going to be pushed in the wrong direction unless both the Internet card rooms and the brick and mortar casinos who offer ace to 7 games change their hand rankings,” he says.

For the full explanation, check out the latest issue of Bluff Europe Magazine. Nic also outlines his theories in a video interview at www.bluffeurope.com.

“You can even share your report card right from your device using email or popular social networking sites like Twitter and Facebook. Players are already using it to brag to their friends while out-and-about.”

Intertops Sportsbook Picks Green Bay to Triumph Over Chicago Bears in Sunday's Re-play of Last Years NFC Championship Game

Intertops Sportsbook NFL bets on NFL football and Super Bowl contestSunday’s re-match of last season’s NFC Championship title game duel between the Bears and the Packers will be one of the hottest contests in Week 3 of the new NFL football season. Intertops bookies see 2-0 Green Bay as a 3.5 point favorite to win at Soldier Field.

In other key Week 3 battles Intertops favors the New Orleans Saints to use home-field advantage to get past the fast-improving Houston Texans, and expects the Pittsburgh Steelers to pile on the agony for the winless Indianapolis Colts on Monday Night.

“All eyes were on Aaron Rodgers in last year’s NFC Championship Game, and they will be again on Sunday,” said an Intertops Sportsbook spokesperson. “But let’s not forget that the Packers’ final step to the Super Bowl was only sealed when the Bears’ third-string quarterback, Caleb Hanie, was intercepted just 12 yards from a game-tying touchdown.”

Intertops will make one NFL football fan’s dream come true by sending them to Super Bowl XLVI in Indianapolis February 5th. Every dollar wagered on Intertops’ NFL bet offers during the Regular Season earns one entry into the end-of-season draw for an amazing Super Bowl XLVI prize package that includes accommodation at a top hotel, two reserved top tickets to the game, plus expenses for flights. For those who already have a hunch about who will win the Vince Lombardi Trophy next, Intertops has updated its Super Bowl odds following the Week 2 action.

Sure, a trip to Super Bowl XLVI would be great. But how about a $500 free bet?! If you wager at least $200 on every game day of the NFL Regular Season Intertops will give you a $500 free bet after the final week of play.

Intertops took the first online sports wager in 1996 and continues to be one of the most popular and trusted online sportsbooks in the world. Working hard to earn its reputation for courteous and efficient customer service and hassle-free deposits and withdrawals, Intertops is one of the world’s favorite online sportsbooks, casinos and poker rooms.

Pearls of Atlantis, Slotland's Latest One-of-a-Kind Online Slot Machine, Features Bonus Game

Slotland no download casino adds Pearls of Atlantis online slot machineThe legendary kingdom of Atlantis may be just a myth, but the fun – and chances to win big – are very real in Slotland’s new Pearls of Atlantis online slot machine. Pearls of Atlantis is a 5 wheel, 9 pay line slot machine with images of the legendary lost kingdom of Atlantis. It has a unique and exciting bonus game that adds extra playing time and gives players a chance to win up to five times the value of the Treasure Chest Fund they accumulate in the main game.

Players can try the new game for free. Until September 18th, a free $20 chip will automatically be deposited in their account when they log in and click on the new game. In addition, the top 30 players who play the Pearls of Atlantis this week will get a share of a special $2375 prize pool with the player who wagers the most on the game winning a $500 bonus.

“Slots players love spinning the reels and these reels have some of the most beautiful graphics our games developers have ever come up with” said Slotland manager Michael Hilary, “But we also like to give players an interesting and challenging bonus game to make the fun last even longer -- and multiply winnings!”

The mermaids, mermen, seahorses and sea monsters that adorn the wheels of this mythical slot machine conjure the undersea world of Atlantis but the most important symbol is the “Treasure Chest”. When three appear anywhere on the screen, players can receive a multiple of that spin’s bet added to their Treasure Chest Fund, a piece of the Wheel of Fortune, or one of the special gem pieces that boost players’ chances to multiply their winnings during the bonus game.

Collecting five pieces of the outer wheel triggers the Wheel of Fortune Bonus Game where a lucky spin wins up to five times the money previously accumulated in the Treasure Chest Fund.

Like all of their online slots, Pearls of Atlantis is tied to the casino’s progressive jackpot. Spinning five "Triton" symbols on a pay line when at least $10 has been bet wins the jackpot which is currently over $115,000.

Slotland.com is the world’s oldest and most trusted all slots and video poker site. It has a truly unique  collection of one-of-a-kind online slot machines that are ONLY available at Slotland. It's is a no download casino that now offers 22 slot machines and video poker games that require no installation or set-up. Just get straight to the fun.

Badbeat.com Mentoring Helps Anthony Goldfinch Take Down 10K and 3K GTDs This Week

Badbeat com Sponsored Player Anthony Goldfinch Takes Down 10K GTDI'm thinking Anthony 'NotFolding' Goldfinch is pretty happy to be staked and mentored by Badbeat.com this week.  He started the week by winning the 10K GTD Rebuy on Royal Vegas Sunday night, beating 185 other runners for a well deserved 3000 Euros. And then he won the 3K GTD on Poker Encore Tuesday night. As a sponsored player, Goldfinch has received extensive training from Badbeat’s mentors and his game shows significant improvement after just three months under their guidance.

“Before I joined Badbeat I was spewing buy ins away like it was Monopoly money and didn't seem to be on the right side of any run good,” said Goldfinch. “After breaking my loss limit, looking at my hands and realising how bad I was playing, I was told to take a break for a while until some of the coaches could re-evaluate where I was at.”

“The next month I still had the odd spew monkey moment but I made a slight profit under the guidance of my mentor and started to get a real feel for the games. I reviewed some hands with my mentor who spotted some easy mistakes and helped me rectify them. I was down around 10k until he influenced and channeled my game and now I’m feeling confident enough to set myself a target of 10k - 15k profit for this month.”

Goldfinch’s Badbeat.com poker mentor, Peter Hedlund, recognised Anthony’s potential from the start.

"When I started mentoring Anthony it was pretty obvious to me that he was a solid, winning player - but with pretty noticeable leaks and some poor results that didn't reflect his skill level,” said Hedlund. “During our mentoring sessions we've had very interesting theoretical discussions. That's one of the things that Badbeat can really provide - a deep, analytical environment for poker players that wish to be just a little bit better than the rest."

Badbeat.com, the original and leading poker staking site, has been sponsoring and mentoring promising players since 2005. This summer it made its revolutionary new MyGame poker training system, modeled on that experience, available free to anyone that’s ready to step up their game.

You don't have to be sponsored by Badbeat.com to benefit from their training.  Their free MyGame system is designed for anyone that wants to learn, win and transform the way they play poker. It builds players’ poker skills from the ground up by analysing actual play. Access to Badbeat’s tutorials, the unique poker hands analysis tool, Report Cards, and Social gaming features are all free after registering a new account with any of Badbeat’s partner poker sites.

Badbeat.com is giving away $50 Free to the first 100 players to create a new account on one of their affiliate sites such as BetfairPoker, GentingPoker, PokerTime, and Royal Vegas. Players can claim their $50 by emailing staking@badbeat.com with their site and alias.

Badbeat.com Director Encouraged Players to Develop a "Poker Mind" in His Lecture at Poker in the Park Last Weekend

Badbeat com Director Encouraged Players to Develop a Poker Mind in His Lecture at Poker in the ParkSpeaking to poker enthusiasts at Poker in the Park in London over the weekend, John Conroy, Managing Director at Badbeat.com, cautioned players against simply memorizing plays and encouraged them to instead develop a "poker mind".

Badbeat.com, the original and leading poker staking site, has been sponsoring and mentoring promising players since 2005. This summer it made its revolutionary new MyGame poker training system, modeled on that experience, available free to anyone that’s ready to step up their game.

“A lot of training out there is rubbish,” said Conroy. “Poker isn’t black and white. How you play your hand depends as much on whom else is at the table and how they’re playing as on the cards you’re dealt. The MyGame poker training system that we’ve built with our team of mentors is designed to change the way the player thinks. It’s all about building a poker mind.”

More players have more experience playing and it takes much more than learning plays from a book to be winner.

“Poker is about observation and deception. Observing your opponents behaviour , betting patterns , type of player, what they think of you etc. Deception is achieved by balancing the way you play hands and not always playing particular hands the same way.”

The MyGame poker training system is designed for any player that wants to learn, win and transform the way they play poker - all for free. It builds players’ poker skills from the ground up by analysing actual play. Access to Badbeat’s tutorials, the unique poker hands analysis tool, Report Cards, and Social gaming features are all free after registering with any of Badbeat’s partner poker sites.

Badbeat.com are giving away $50 free to the first 100 players to create a new account on one of their affiliate sites such as BetfairPoker, GentingPoker, PokerTime, and Royal Vegas. Players can claim their $50 by emailing staking@badbeat.com with their site and alias.

Grande Vegas Casino Players Have Surprise Bonuses Waiting in Their Casino Message CenterIf you play casino games at Grande Vegas Casino -- you have mail! The popular online casino will be sending news about special offers such as no-deposit bonuses, cash-back bonuses, add-on tournaments and extra deposit bonuses three times in September. They haven't said when the messages will be sent though, and there will be no email or any other notification, so players would be wise to check their Message Center regularly.

“The special bonuses will be no surprise for our players since they’re used to getting lots of casino bonuses -- and we’ve told them there will be more this month,” said casino manager Robert Miller. “However, WHEN we send the messages will be a complete surprise, so we encourage everyone to keep an eye on their casino Message Center!”

The Message Center surprise bonuses begin September 6th. Since players will have only 24 hours to redeem them, it’s important to check frequently so as not to miss out on any free cash. As a sample of even bigger surprises to come, Miller sent a message to players today about a surprise bonus valid for one week. (Standard wagering requirements apply and are detailed on the casino’s website.)

Free "MyGame" Poker Training at Badbeat.com Analyses Actual Game Play

MyGame Free Poker Training at Badbeat com Features Play and Fix System that Analyses Actual PlayOne of the most popular features of the MyGame online mentoring system that poker staking company Badbeat.com launched earlier this summer is its “Play & Fix” feature that gives players feedback on their actual game play.

“Play & Fix” Report Cards are just part of the comprehensive online poker training system that Badbeat developed for their stable of sponsored poker players. Now the MyGame poker training facility is available free to anyone that’s serious about improving their game.

“I don’t suppose a lot of people really looked forward to report card day in high school, but we’ve sure been getting great feedback on the feedback we’re giving to players,” said Badbeat Managing Director, John Conroy.  “Getting a grade gives them something to aim for, helps them see how they’re progressing.  The detailed hand analysis tools help them build skills -- it watches them play and shows them where they might have done better.”

The new system is designed for any player that wants to learn, win and transform the way they play poker - all for free. It builds player’s poker skills from the ground up by analysing actual play, spotting weaknesses and showing how to fix them.

Access to Badbeat’s tutorials, the unique hands analysis tool, Report Cards, and Social gaming features are all free after registering with any of Badbeat’s partner poker sites. Currently the system can monitor their play at all of the major Poker sites including Party Poker, Betfair Poker,  PokerStars, Mansion Poker, Poker Encore, Royal Vegas Poker, Red Hot Poker, Poker Time, TGF Poker & Betsafe.

The “Paysafecard Bar” to Serve the Hordes at Europe’s Biggest Poker Festival

Paysafecard Teams up with Poker in the Park to Serve the Hordes at Europe’s Biggest Poker FestivalPaysafecard will be sponsoring the bar at Poker in the Park V, the world’s biggest free poker festival. The Paysafecard Bar will be a fully-stocked bar, serving beer, wine and spirits, and keeping the punters lubricated as they enjoy the full range of pro lectures, tuition, live poker, music and entertainment that Poker in the Park has to offer.

Paysafecard is an electronic payment method for predominantly online shopping and is based on a pre-pay system. Exchanging cash for Electronic Money (for use online) is facilitated through paysafecard in many countries worldwide.

Last year 20,000 poker fans came to Poker in the Park to celebrate all things poker and rub shoulders with the likes of Liv Boeree, Devilfish, Neil Channing and Evander Holyfield. Poker in the Park V takes place on 2nd and 3rd September at the new venue of Hanover Square, a stone’s throw from Oxford Circus.

“The bar is the social hub of Poker in the Park,” said organiser Michael Caselli, “And we’re thrilled that such an industry heavyweight as Paysafecard has come on board. With the main stage banging out music and entertainment and the Paysafecard Bar looking after our guests, we’ll have even more of a festival atmosphere this year.”

$2000 No Strings Free Roll at Intertops Poker This Sunday

Intertops Poker Hosts No Strings Free Roll Poker TournamentIntertops Poker is hosting the monthly Bluff Europe Free Roll this weekend.  They've put $2000 in the pot and there are no deposit or qualification requirements for new players. The truly free freeroll will be held at Intertops Poker Sunday August 28th at 5:00 pm Eastern time.

“This is a great time for players to check out our site,” said Intertops’ poker room manager. “There’s lots of bonus money to be had – and we just updated our software. It’s got a sweet new look, but more importantly for tournament players, it has lots of new tools for keeping your tournament schedule organized.”

On Friday, all new players that register at Intertops Poker in August will be issued a ticket to this tournament as will regular players that have made a minimum $20 deposit in August.

Sunday’s special free roll tournament is in addition to the $25,000 Weekly Guaranteed Tournament and $1000 Guaranteed Freeze-out Tournaments each held every Sunday. It comes at the end of a month of serious cash giveaways at the popular online poker site.

“We always give away loads of cash in our monthly Frequent Player Points races,” said the poker room manager, “But we don’t usually hand out $15,000 in one month like we are in August!”

The last points race in August ends on Sunday with another $3750 being distributed to players on Monday. Details of next month’s points race will be announced shortly.

Intertops Poker players earn Frequent Player Points whenever they are dealt cards at any real-money cash game or pay a tournament entry fee. Points are automatically converted into Gold Chips which can then be redeemed for prizes, free poker tournaments or as non-deposit bonuses.

Known for its courteous and efficient customer service, Intertops has been around for more than fifteen years. While so many others have come and gone, it is still one of the most popular and most trusted online poker rooms in the world.
